ROC the Block – Douglass Park and Truxtun

A little neighborhood care can make a big difference – especially when the whole community gets involved. Join us in the Douglass Park and Truxtun neighborhoods on September 16 for ROC the Block, Portsmouth’s ongoing effort to Reclaim Our Community one neighborhood at a time.

From cleaner streets to safer public spaces, City teams and community members will work together to identify concerns, make improvements and connect residents with valuable resources.

Activities will include:

• Neighborhood walk-throughs
• Litter and bulk trash cleanup
• Stormwater drain inspections
• Street sign and streetlight checks
• Identification of potholes and code concerns

Residents can also connect directly with City of Portsmouth staff for information and assistance, including:

• Social Services and benefits assistance, including SNAP, Medicaid and family services
• Behavioral healthcare, crisis support and treatment services
• Rapid Revive! overdose response training
• Harm reduction resources and educational materials

You don’t have to participate in the entire walk to get involved. Step outside when teams are nearby, meet City representatives and share the concerns and ideas that matter most to your neighborhood.

Together, we can help make Douglass Park, Truxtun and neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth safer, healthier and more inviting places to live.
