Black History Now Lecture: Hampton Roads Shipyard Workers in Pictures

A 45 min. long illustrated presentation with 15-20 min. of questions, addressing why and how I started the project Shipyard Workers of Hampton Roads series, covering the importance of documenting the voices and likeness of the workers we encountered in the shipyards we visited for this project. Also covered in this talk will be how I approach what I call, “street portrait” projects, the how’s and why’s while touching on past projects of this type such as Endangered Species: Watermen of the Chesapeake, A Random Portrait of Virginia and my decades long history of photographing people in Virginia and around the world.
