2017 Citizens Academy

Location: Portsmouth Police Training Unit

The Portsmouth Police Department is proud to present the Citizen’s Police Academy.  This community-oriented program is designed to provide private citizens and members of the business community with an insider’s perspective of police work.

Police Department instructors will cover a variety of topics such as Uniform Patrol duties, functions of the Criminal Investigations Unit, Crime Prevention and Community Policing.  Several hands-on classes will also be available to include firearms safety and traffic stop exercises.  Also, there will be classes that involve demonstrations from specialized units to include SWAT, K-9 and the Police Motor Squad.

The Citizens Police Academy will ultimately assist in the reduction of crime through the forging of a partnership between the community and Police Department.  This partnership is the most practical, efficient and powerful tool in the fight against crime.  Please contact Becky Jacobs, at 757-393-8088 for more information and registration forms.
