The Friends of the Naval Shipyard Museum is hosting the inaugural Portsmouth Paddle Battle on the Elizabeth Saturday, September 11, at 9:30 a.m. If you, your family, or friends kayak or paddle board, here’s your chance to show off your mad paddling skills. Portsmouth Paddle Battle on the Elizabeth participants will compete in stand up paddle-boarding and kayak categories depending on age/experience level. The race begins at the High Street Basin in Olde Towne, and continues to the Hammerhead Crane at the shipyard and back.
As a special treat – a series of challenge races, involving racers from the Navy Medical Center Portsmouth, the U.S. Coast Guard, and others will also be featured. The event also features live music, food, drinks, prizes and special activities for children. Register at https://www.friendsofportsmouthnsm.org/paddle-battle for sign-up and liability waiver forms. Both forms must be completed and submitted. Online registration only. On-site registration will be available for an additional $10 payable only by cash, Visa and MasterCard.
