The electrifying jazz of the Eric Mintel Quartet has been entertaining audiences since 1993, with renowned pianist/ composer/bandleader Eric Mintel and world-class virtuoso jazz musicians Nelson Hill on sax, Jack Hegyi on bass, and Dave Mohn on drums. As early as age three, Eric, who hails from Bucks County, PA, was creating his own piano melodies and eventually playing jazz legend Dave Brubeck’s “Blue Rondo a la Turk” and “Take Five.”
His music career includes performances at the White House, Kennedy Center, and the United Nations. He has been interviewed and featured in “DownBeat” jazz magazine, and also as the featured guest on NPR’s “Piano Jazz” with Marian McPartland.
In 2005, Eric released a 3-CD-boxed set of his jazz on the QVC Television Network. His music can be heard on XM and Sirius Radio. The Eric Mintel Quartet was honored to open for Dave Brubeck at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. The group has become a staple of the holidays with its highly successful “Charlie Brown Jazz” Christmas concerts, featuring the music of Vince Guaraldi.
Aside from stage performance, the Eric Mintel Quartet conducts “Jazz Education” clinics at high schools, colleges and universities, and presents talks on “Entrepreneurship in Jazz” to music departments and business departments on the “Business” of being a professional working jazz musician. Recorded releases by the quartet include the new single “King’s Journey,” new CD “Just Around the Corner,” and “EMQ Live from the COTA Festival of the Arts” held at the Delaware Water Gap, PA.
